Somdutta Chakraborty, PhD
Somdutta has a B.Engg in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Mumbai, India. Following that, she came to the US for her M.S degree, also in Biomedical Engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington and then her Ph.D (Biomedical Engineering) from the University of Texas at Dallas in Dr. Victor Varner’s lab.
In her PhD research, she has looked at the role of biophysical factors such as tissue stiffness, cell proliferation and mechanotransduction via Yap in embryonic kidney development. She is passionate about working in Translational Research and wishes to make a meaningful contribution to Healthcare and Medicine.
She just recently joined Dr Hogan’s Lab and in her spare time she loves to bake cupcakes, tea cakes, cookies and birthday cakes. She also loves biking, especially in spring and summer, and crocheting in the winters.
