Hock Tay, PhD
Hock obtained his BBiomedSc and PhD in Immunology & Microbiology from the University of Newcastle, Australia. His research centers on cytokine biology and cell signaling in lungs particularly examining host pathogen interactions. After years of dedicated study in lung biology, Hock had an epiphany and realized life isn’t just about the lungs. Hence, he followed his gut feeling and joined Hogan lab to understand the mysteries of inflammatory bowel disease.
Hock is experienced in molecular techniques, cell and bacteria culture, and microscopy, although he typically prefers to go with the flow.
Outside of science he finds enjoyment in chess, strategy games, soccer, and staying updated on new technology. To balance his interests and avoid the label of a full-frontal nerd, he also engages in camping, hiking, and socializing with a wee bit of drink in hand.
