Debatrayee Sinha, PhD
Debatrayee is a molecular and cell biologist whose research spans plant biotechnology, ion channel dynamics, and immune cell mechanics. She earned her B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the University of Calcutta, where her Master's research focused on developing drought-resistant transgenic crop plants. She went on to complete her Ph.D. at the University of Toledo (2017–2023), investigating the molecular roles of the fission yeast polycystin Pkd2 channel. During her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan in the labs of Dr. Pierre Coulombe and Dr. Carole Parent (2023–2026), she explored the function of vimentin intermediate filaments in neutrophils, before joining the Hogan Lab in September 2026 to focus on developing induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived mast cells and other advanced immune cell line systems.
She loves cooking by trying and experimenting with different styles and techniques, aiming to make healthier alternatives. She also loves music, nature walks, and is obsessed with dogs.
